Platysmal bands, horizontal lines, and the laxity that often appears before the face changes.
The neck has thinner skin, less subcutaneous fat, and more sun exposure than most areas of the face. It often shows aging signs earlier than the face above it. Platysmal bands appear as the platysma muscle tightens. Horizontal lines develop from posture and sleep position. Skin laxity becomes visible.
Treatment combines neuromodulator for the bands, filler or biostimulator for structural support, and skin treatments like laser or microneedling for surface quality.
Three drivers shape neck changes.
Platysma is a thin sheet muscle that runs from the chest to the jaw. With age and activity, it tightens into visible vertical bands.
Skin on the neck is thin and shows damage readily.
Fat compartments below the chin and along the jaw deflate, contributing to descent and altered contour.
Treatment addresses each driver depending on what the client's neck needs.
The neck often shows the first signs of aging, sometimes in the thirties. Horizontal lines from sleep position and posture develop early. Platysmal bands become visible in the forties and fifties. Skin laxity follows.
Sun exposure dramatically accelerates the timeline. Clients who've protected their face but not their neck often have a striking visual mismatch.
Neck treatment in this decade is rare. Sun protection and posture awareness are the most important preventive moves.
Horizontal lines from posture and sleep position may develop. Some clients with active platysma muscles see early band visibility. Treatment is uncommon but begins for some.
Platysmal bands become visible. Skin quality shifts. This is when most clients first consider neck treatment as part of a broader plan.
Significant changes are common. Treatment plans combine Botox, biostimulator, and skin work. The neck becomes part of every face conversation.
Neck work is one of the most layered conversations in aesthetics. We rarely treat the neck with a single modality. A successful neck plan often combines Botox for bands, biostimulator for structure, and skin work for surface quality.
For platysmal bands, we use twenty to forty units of Botox distributed along the visible bands. The Nefertiti technique extends placement along the jaw to lift the lower face indirectly.
For skin and structure, Sculptra and Radiesse build collagen across a series of treatments. Most clients require three to four sessions for full results.
For surface quality, we add Halo, BBL, or microneedling depending on the skin in front of us. The neck responds well to careful resurfacing.
Each location has its own character. All three share the same standard of care.

Had my first blood draw today with it was INCREDIBLE!!! Also the front desk were all so pleasant especially Kelsie! I highly recommend RN Esthetics!!
I was truly blown away after my appointment here. Every single person I interacted with, from the front desk to the providers who handled my treatments, was incredible! They made me feel so welcomed and cared for, and were both informative and genuinely kind. The space itself is spotless, cozy, and easily the most inviting place I’ve ever been for Botox. Michelle did my Botox and she was amazing! I also had a hydrafacial and dermaplaning, and I already can’t wait to come back again and again. You will not regret booking here!
I highly recommend RN Esthetics! The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful without making you feel rushed. The facility is spotless and clean, which made me feel even more comfortable and confident being there. Great experience overall!
