The line that defines the lower face. Filler and biostimulators here sharpen contour and support the descent that comes with age.
The jawline runs from the chin to the angle of the jaw. In a youthful face, this line is smooth and defined. With age, the line softens. Jowls develop. The pre-jowl area, just in front of the jaw angle, deflates. The lower face starts to read undefined.
Treatment restores the line through structural filler placement. We rebuild the contour where it's been lost, sharpen the angle where the muscle has shrunk, and support the area in front of the jowl to lift the descended tissue.
Three drivers shape jawline appearance.
Bone defines the underlying contour. Bone resorption with age changes the jaw shape subtly.
Fat compartments along the mandible deflate and shift downward, creating jowls and softening the line.
Skin laxity contributes to the overall descent once the underlying support has changed.
Treatment addresses each driver depending on what the face needs.
Jawline changes typically begin in the forties. The pre-jowl area deflates first, followed by jowl development as tissue descends. Skin laxity adds to the appearance.
Genetics, weight changes, and habitual posture all play roles. Clients who've lost significant weight often see jawline changes earlier.
The natural jawline in this decade is typically well-defined. Treatment is rare and usually about refinement, not restoration.
Some clients begin to notice minor pre-jowl deflation or jaw angle softening, often related to weight changes or genetics. Conservative treatment may begin for prevention.
This is when most clients first notice jawline changes. Pre-jowl deflation and early jowls become visible. Treatment often combines pre-jowl filler with structural placement along the line.
Significant changes are common in this decade. Treatment plans typically address the entire lower face, with filler at the angle, pre-jowl, and along the mandibular border for full restoration.
Jawline work is structural and conservative. We use firm HA fillers like Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, or Radiesse, placed deep against the bone. Dosing varies. A modest jawline definition might use one syringe per side. Significant restoration may use two or three syringes total.
We treat the jawline as one part of a lower-face plan, often paired with chin and masseter work. The areas read together and respond best to coordinated treatment.
Results from HA filler are immediate. Radiesse adds biostimulation that builds collagen over months, useful when long-term structural rebuilding is the goal.
We start conservatively. Better to revisit in two weeks than to overshoot in one session.
Each location has its own character. All three share the same standard of care.

Had my first blood draw today with it was INCREDIBLE!!! Also the front desk were all so pleasant especially Kelsie! I highly recommend RN Esthetics!!
I was truly blown away after my appointment here. Every single person I interacted with, from the front desk to the providers who handled my treatments, was incredible! They made me feel so welcomed and cared for, and were both informative and genuinely kind. The space itself is spotless, cozy, and easily the most inviting place I’ve ever been for Botox. Michelle did my Botox and she was amazing! I also had a hydrafacial and dermaplaning, and I already can’t wait to come back again and again. You will not regret booking here!
I highly recommend RN Esthetics! The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful without making you feel rushed. The facility is spotless and clean, which made me feel even more comfortable and confident being there. Great experience overall!
