BBL works by delivering specific wavelengths of light absorbed by pigment (brown spots) and hemoglobin (red vessels). The targeted chromophores absorb the energy, heat up, and either rise to the surface as small scabs that flake off (pigment) or get reabsorbed by the body (vessels).
Treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes. You'll feel warmth and quick rubber-band-snap sensations during the pulses. Many patients describe it as tolerable without numbing, though we offer it for the more sensitive areas.
The first session is often the most dramatic. Sun damage you didn't know was there often surfaces in the first 48 hours. Subsequent sessions refine and maintain. We sequence BBL with other treatments based on what your skin actually needs.
Your provider assesses your skin type, the depth of damage, and reviews pre-care. Two weeks of sun avoidance and five to seven days off retinol before treatment. We discuss what BBL will and won't do for your specific concerns.
Multiple wavelengths of broadband light delivered through a handpiece with contact cooling. Most patients describe it as warm pulses with brief snaps. Twenty to forty-five minutes depending on the area treated.
Mild redness and warmth for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Pigmented spots darken first, then flake off naturally over five to seven days. SPF every day, no exceptions.
Clearer, more even skin emerges as the treated pigment sheds and vascular concerns resolve. Each session builds on the last. Most patients see meaningful results after one session and refined results after the full series.
Most patients see best results from a series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. After the initial series, an annual touch-up maintains the result.

Wrong wavelength on darker skin causes pigment damage. We use Nd:YAG for Fitzpatrick 4 through 6 and match every setting to your tone, not the protocol default.
Lasers work in series. We plan four to six sessions for most concerns and explain what each session contributes to the cumulative result.
We talk about what laser can and can't do upfront. For deep texture or significant laxity, we name the limits and discuss alternatives.
Tanned skin can't be safely treated. We pause for four to six weeks after sun exposure and require committed SPF use during the treatment series.

Multiple wavelengths in one session let us address pigment and vascular concerns at the same time. It's a photofacial, not a resurfacing laser.
