The foundation of long-term health.

What it is

Metabolic health describes how the body processes and uses energy. It involves insulin sensitivity, blood glucose regulation, lipid metabolism, weight regulation, and inflammatory patterns. Poor metabolic health drives most chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and many cancers.

Metabolic syndrome is a specific cluster of metabolic dysfunction: elevated waist circumference, blood pressure, glucose, and triglycerides plus low HDL. About one-third of US adults meet criteria for metabolic syndrome.

Why Patients Seek Treatment

Clients come in concerned about weight, blood sugar, or general health trajectory. Many have been told their lab values are borderline without concrete action plans. We provide bloodwork-guided medical management with real tools.

Why metabolic health is foundational

What Causes It
Common Signs
Why It Changes Over Time
How It's Commonly Addressed
01

What Causes It

Several factors drive metabolic dysfunction.

Genetics determine susceptibility.

Diet and lifestyle including high-glycemic eating patterns, low fiber intake, and sedentary lifestyle.

Hormonal patterns particularly insulin resistance, drive metabolic syndrome. Hormonal shifts in menopause accelerate metabolic decline.

Sleep disruption directly affects insulin sensitivity and metabolic patterns.

Chronic stress affects cortisol and metabolic function.

Medications including some psychiatric and steroid medications, affect metabolism.

02

Common Signs

Weight gain particularly around the midsection. Difficulty losing weight despite diet and exercise. Energy crashes after meals. Sugar cravings. Elevated fasting glucose or HbA1c. Elevated triglycerides. Low HDL cholesterol. Elevated blood pressure. Brain fog after eating.

03

Why It Changes Over Time

Metabolic function typically declines with age, particularly through perimenopause and menopause when hormonal changes accelerate insulin resistance.

Without intervention, metabolic dysfunction tends to progress toward type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. With intervention, much of the trajectory can be reversed.

04

How It's Commonly Addressed

Metabolic management is multi-modal.

GLP-1 medications (semaglutide/Wegovy, tirzepatide/Mounjaro) for weight loss and metabolic improvement.

Metformin for insulin resistance and weight management in many clients.

BHRT for hormonally driven metabolic shifts.

Nutritional optimization with attention to protein, fiber, and glycemic load.

Strength training for muscle mass and insulin sensitivity.

Sleep optimization as sleep affects metabolic function.

Continuous glucose monitoring for some clients to identify dietary triggers.

How we approach metabolic health

Our approach combines medical management with lifestyle support.

For clients with significant insulin resistance or weight challenges, GLP-1 medications (semaglutide, tirzepatide) often produce meaningful improvement. We prescribe and manage these per current evidence-based protocols.

For clients with metabolic patterns but not requiring GLP-1, we may use metformin and focus on nutritional and lifestyle optimization.

BHRT addresses the hormonal contributors that often drive metabolic shifts in midlife.

We coordinate with primary care for ongoing health monitoring, including blood pressure, lipids, and other cardiovascular markers.

I was truly blown away after my appointment here. Every single person I interacted with, from the front desk to the providers who handled my treatments, was incredible! They made me feel so welcomed and cared for, and were both informative and genuinely kind. The space itself is spotless, cozy, and easily the most inviting place I’ve ever been for Botox. Michelle did my Botox and she was amazing! I also had a hydrafacial and dermaplaning, and I already can’t wait to come back again and again. You will not regret booking here!
